An abundance of high class sweets shops can be found at Ginza, with its gathering of posh brands and shops, and Marunouchi, the sophisticatedly stylish area located at the north side of Tokyo Station. Here there are both take-out shops and shops with cafes attached. You can reach Ginza on foot from Tokyo Station. It's great fun to look for sweets while taking a stroll.
If you visit the Marunouchi area, stop by some of the sky scrapers that double as city land marks like the Marunouchi Building, Shin-Marunouchi Building, and Marunouchi BRICK SQUARE. If you want to shop efficiently for high quality sweets in the Ginza area, visiting department stores like MITSUKOSHI, Matsuzakaya, or PRINTEMPS is a good way to go.
This is a Spanish royal warrant chocolate shop (chocolateria). It strictly oversees the chocolate making process, starting with the painstaking selection of cocoa beans from local cocoa farmland and moving up through bean management and tight control of ingredients for the chocolate, creating the highest quality chocolate with an extremely rich flavor. Menu development is assisted by chefs from the Spanish restaurant "elBulli," which was awarded three stars by Michelin. The bite-sized bon-bon chocolates and chocolate sheets are popular.

The world's first shop specializing in Echire butter. Echire butter is a French fermented butter that is favored by royal families worldwide. It has also won numerous prizes at many international expositions. With over 160 years of history, this is one of Japan's most prestigious high quality fruit shops. In addition to a takeout area, the Shin-Maru Building shop also has a dining area where visitors can enjoy seasonal fruit parfaits. At the takeout area, we recommend the comfits, which mean "sugar-coated" in French. Comfits made from ingredients like high quality chestnuts, peaches, apricots, and cherries make cocktails and desserts extra fun.

Shiseido Parlour has kept its doors open in Ginza since approximately 100 years ago. The Ginza main shop on the first floor of the Tokyo Ginza Shiseido Bldg. features cakes prepared by exclusive Shiseido Parlour patissiers (pastry chefs), "Classic Brandy Cakes" made with cognac, and biscuits embossed with camellias, the symbol logo of Shiseido. The Salon de cafe on the third floor serves up sweets available only here, like the ice cream that was their feature product during the founding years and French toast topped with honey collected in the Ginza area.

MIKIMOTO Ginza 2 is a Ginza landmark together with the main shop of "MIKIMOTO," one of Japan's prized jewelry brands. Inside in the MIKIMOTO LOUNGE, sweets made from seasonal fruit are arranged like single-serving dishes. The feature recommendation is the "Pearl," a passion fruit parfait evoking a pearl image. Together with sweets, enjoy organically grown original blend tea, green tea, or even champagne for a luxurious Ginza style tea time. Stopping in during a shopping trip is also fun.

TORAYA is a prestigious Japanese confectionary shop with 500 years of history. The second floor tea room, "TORAYA Saryo," serves confectionaries that are individually handmade with care by confectionary craftspeople. In addition to "yokan," made from a kneaded gel of high quality sweet bean paste, enjoy high quality unbaked sweets in the shape of seasonal flowers. Try some Japanese confectionaries that delight the eye as well as the taste buds together with matcha, a traditional Japanese tea.
The second floor of GINZA KANOKO features a cafe space that serves traditional Japanese sweets. The popular "anmitsu" is particularly delicious with fruit pieces and the goodness of bean ingredients like sweet bean paste and adzuki beans, all topped with a sweet sauce. Seasonally served sweets are also available for limited times. In the summer, enjoy "kakigori" (snow cones) made from finely shaved ice and syrup. And in the winter, we recommend the "oshiruko," consisting of soft rice cakes in hot sweet bean paste soup.

Ginza Kanra Ginza main shop
This shop features "bean daifuku cakes" made from soft rice cakes wrapped around sweet azuki bean paste and "dora yaki" made from round pancakes sandwiching sweet bean paste. These sweets have been common daily sweets from days of old in Japan, so they hold a dear place in the hearts of the Japanese people. Their small shape and low price makes them a form of sweets loved by the masses, but the refined ingredients and care given to the creation process at Kanra transforms them into high end, high quality confectionaries. They are perfect to eat at the nearby Hibiya Park. Another shop is located within "GranSta," a shopping zone in the underground section of Tokyo Station, making it easy to drop by when using the station.
